On the 28th of December 1999 we left Germany for Africa. The goal was to spend New Years Eve at a location that would be something special to remember at the change of the century. After searching it was decided that Africa would be perfect. We first flew to
Johannesburg, South Africa, spent a
night. We then flew early next morning to
Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. There we were to celebrate the turn of the century.
After a fabulous New Years Eve at the beautiful
Elephant Hills Hotel, on the golf course under a tent, we took the unbelievable
Rovos Rail train to Pretoria. From there we flew to Windhoek, Namibia and immediately on the Okavongo Delta in Botswana and the
Impalila Island Lodge on the Zambezi River. From there we went to
Kings Pool for the remainder for our safari. From the Safari we went back to South Africa and Cape Town. There we spent 3 days before going on to
L'Avenir Wine Farm and Bed and Breakfast for a beautiful relaxing end of a great journey.
